A signed BAA on every plan
SMSWell signs a Business Associate Agreement with every customer, on every plan, at no extra charge. You don't need a higher tier to get one.
The BAA sets out what we agree to do with the health information your texts carry. It covers our part. Your company's HIPAA program covers the rest.
A consent record for each contact
SMSWell keeps a consent record for each contact, whether they joined by keyword or your team added their consent. When someone asks whether a contact agreed to texts, the answer is in one place.
Automatic STOP and quiet hours
A contact who replies STOP is opted out at once, and no campaign or scheduled text reaches them after that. Quiet hours hold scheduled texts outside the window you set, so nobody gets a reminder at 11 pm.
AI that drafts and a person who sends
The AI in SMSWell drafts replies, summarizes threads and sorts the inbox. It can't send. A person on your team reads every draft and presses send, so someone stands behind every message.
The AI doesn't give medical advice. Clinical questions go to your clinicians, the way they do now.
Company numbers instead of personal phones
When staff text from their own phones, the conversations sit on devices you don't control and leave when the employee does. SMSWell keeps every text on your company's numbers, in an account your company runs.
Admin roles and audit log export on Scale
Scale adds admin roles, so you decide who changes settings and numbers, and an audit log you can export for your own reviews.

What SMSWell doesn't do or claim
- We don't call SMSWell HIPAA certified, because no official HIPAA certification exists. We sign a BAA and describe our safeguards instead.
- It doesn't give medical advice, and its AI drafts aren't clinical guidance.
- It doesn't connect to EHR, scheduling or other systems, and it doesn't take payments.
- It doesn't replace your company's own HIPAA policies, training or risk review.
